… And we’re in China! It actually feels a bit weird being here, no WhatsApp, no Instagram, and the hotel asked me to respect that. I was going to download one of those VPN tunnels, but since Mandarin Oriental knew about my social media background (it gave us a good discount and a nice suite that I could check in to at 6 am this morning, as well as keep until my flight leaves at night), so I don’t really know if I dare to. I can just as well send the material to the team at home instead, or post later when I’m in Stockholm on Saturday.
Anyway, we took a night flight from Melbourne to Shanghai. Eleven hours. I brought some noodle soup with tofu and then I took a sleeping pill and slept the entire flight. We landed at 5 am today. It took a while to get in to China. We had to go through the health check and of course check our visa forever.
We checked in to the Mandarin Oriental and everyone’s room is so beautiful! The bathroom is my favorite part. We had a large breakfast immediately when we arrived, and after that all of us wanted to freshen up and shower. Their hotel manager came down to greet us and reminded us about the social media rules.
We’re really in China.
Now we have sales meetings all day for Löwengrip. So much fun. I’ve met one of the companies before, Blue Bell Group, but in Hong Kong. We’re also going to meet with Parkson. Pingis is already reminding me that I keep forgetting to receive and give with both hands (business cards, etc.). It’s always fun to learn about a new business culture! Wish us luck!
