I took some time off social medias and screen time this weekend, I needed it. Ida and I haven’t even left her house in Umeå all weekend. Not even stepped outside the door. It’s been lovely and I can’t remember last time that happened. The first thing we did when we arrived on Friday, was to remove my makeup and then we’ve basically been living in pyjamas all weekend. Such joy! Both of us needed a bit of peace and quiet. Ida has the same set-up like I do at home, so we had help with four kids and all meals for the weekend. The kids have been playing lots and Sally finally learnt something she’s been looking forward to: making fluffy slime. Mixing glue, shaving foam, contact solution and food colouring – all done!
When Ida and I first got to know each other, nine years ago (!), we created a vision board for each one of us. We did it again this weekend. Life has changed a lot in nearly ten years, but we agreed that we’ve managed to reach a lot of goals. This year, the boards focused more on peace and harmony. We’ve been spending time with arts and craft and tried many sheet-masks. It’s so relaxing to cut paper and play with glue.
There were a lot of contrasts on my board. Large goals mixed with a lot of home-time, sleep, winding down, gratitude and even a photo of a plate with oat porridge. I love luxury but I need ordinary daily life to appreciate everything else.
We’ve been pushing William’s buggie to help him fall asleep! I had so many memories surfacing. When I gave birth to Gillis and Sally I truly lived a different life. When I look back at everything, I feel warmth but I don’t miss it.
The kids have had SO MUCH FUN with Milla. Milla is eight years old and she became an idol for my kids. She showed them the app Musically and Sally has been sleeping in her room. They’ve been staying up late, watched movies and had lots of popcorn. In the morning they had American Pancakes for breakfast (American Nanny) and had marshmallows in the hot chocolate. Ida and I ate amazing fish tacos and ceviche. I noticed that the kids were in need of a quiet weekend too, because we’ve been asleep until half past nine in the morning.
I have also been cuddling with the beautiful William. So cozy! This has been the best weekend in a long while! Peace and quiet, without running around and a lot of good conversation. Right now, we’re about to fly back home. I usually think the weekend is over on a Sunday, but I have half the weekend left. I sent a text message to Lovisa and asked her to buy slime ingredients so we’ll continue the slime-making when we get home. It’s a lot of fun.
